New VT 2018 Arrives in 18 hours

By John Allen, GM, VT

Every 3-4 years, to keep up with changing technologies and markets, we must upgrade the core site code and design.  And so here we go again….

4 years ago, smart phones were NOT even in the equation for design. Now, over 50% of our users experience VT through their smart phone using mobile and apps. So yeah, things change and so will meet the challenge and adjust as well.

Over the last 8 weeks, behind the scenes, we have been hard at work designing the new VeteransToday.com that we call VT 2018. And now it’s about ready to launch.

As I write this article, the launch time swill be on Thursday at 1am EST to 6am EST.

During this transition time, VT will be a bit bloppy as we configure the new design. That means, between 1am and 6am, VT will NOT be perfect.  It will experience rapid design adjustments ….so hang in there.

OK, so what’s new….

  1. The look will be completely different. It will be cleaner, less cluttered and will work on all devices without issue. Each main category will have its own “home page” so that editors can provide visitors with Featured articles for that specific category.
  2. We will offer VT 100% Ad-Free to subscribers. We had many complaints about ads and we are responding by offering this option.
  3. There will be a new VT Discussion Board. The new Forums will offer users an opportunity to engage even more with VT and fellow users.
  4. We will offer even more original content including all VT Radio shows and more content on issues relating to U.S. Military Veterans.  Our new design offers more space and places for new content without sacrificing the great content readers have always counted on.

Oh in 2 weeks, our VT APP will be upgraded for Android and Iphones. So get ready for that too.

And in our new Forums, we will have a FEEDBACK section in our SUGGESTION BOX area where visitors can let us know what they love and hate and what we can do better to serve. So don’t forget to grab a vine and swing in…

VT 2018 is on its way and will reach the net very soon.

Back to work now…cause this transition process requires my full attention.

Talk to you soon

John Allen
