By Senior Editor Gordon Duff

Gilad served in the IDF during the 1982 conflict, a paramedic, but has noted that he is more than a bit uncomfortable with Israel’s policies. I feel much that way about the United States. Gil is joining like minded people from more than a few countries.

We are simply happy to have gained a decent saxophone. He is that and a bit more.

Those of you unfamiliar with Atzmon can buy his novels (2) or his music (much) or visit his website. More risky, is reading what others have written about him. Best stick to reading what Gil has written. I recommend this, not just to learn about him but to have the joy of seeing someone live with courage. He certainly does that.

I hope this is how we all want to define ourselves, our imperfect selves, in a world increasingly undefinable each day.

I know of Atzmon from Ian Dury and the Blockheads, the punk band he joined in the late 90s. He has moved on and does 100 concerts a year.

During 2011, read all of Gilad Atzmon’s posts on VeteransToday.com here on his Gilad Atzmon Profile Page.

By Gordon Duff, Senior Editor VeteransToday.com

Veterans Today (www.veteranstoday.com) is pleased to announce the appointment of Lt. General Hamid Gul, former head of Pakistan’s ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence), to its Editorial Board of Directors, joining, among others, Jeff Gates, Dr. Alan Sabrosky, Col. Jim Hanke, Gordon Duff, Khalil Nouri and Col. Eugene Khrushchev.

Gul began his military career in 1958 and helped lead forces allied to the United States during the effort to end the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan.

Controversial Spy Cheif, Often Misquoted, Joins Veterans Today

Veterans Today believes that General Hamid Gul, one of the most controversial figures of our era, is the kind of person we need, a true friend to American veterans and our military, someone to consistently tells the truth. With America a nation threatened on all sides, led into disaster by liars, weaklings and those with questionable foreign allegiances, Gul’s “straight talk” and “shooting from the hip” has been a breath of fresh air for those Americans lucky enough to hear his unedited and undistorted views. Gul has stuck to the truth even when demonized for it.

Hamid Gul is one of the most respected authorities on the Middle East and South Asia, continually turned to by western military and intelligence leaders when the chips are down. With lifelong personal friendships that stretch the great divide from the Pentagon to Langley and beyond and wide respect from elements critical of the United States, Gul has been an enigmatic figure, one often seen as a threat to the “party line” scripted by Washington’s powerful Israel lobby.

If anything, Gul faces criticism in Pakistan for having too many American friends and for his loyalty to the United States, a loyalty he fears some American leaders themselves no longer share.

Gul’s recent “interview” with the Washington Post was widely misquoted. His challenges to them to compare their misrepresentations against their own audio tapes of his interview go unanswered. Similarly, we found that a 2001 “interview” with UPI, one published around the world right after 9/11, never happened at all but was fabricated out of thin air. This is typical.

General Gul became a controversial figure for being among the first to question the cover story for 9/11, that a few men with box cutters and no logistical support managed to pull off one of the largest military operations in history. As former head of one of the world’s most effective intelligence agencies and a soldier of considerable operational experience, Gul immediately challenged 9/11 and the subsequent disastrous Bush era “War on Terror” warning the United States that it was being manipulated and victimized from within and without.

History has proven General Hamid Gul to have been absolutely correct.

General Gul’s assessments of geopolitics are always fact based, incisive and well considered. When he challenged the rationale for the Bush era war on terror, pointing out broad inconsistencies in the 9/11 cover story, his response was measured, based on a lifetime of service as both a military officer and the former head of the top five intelligence agencies in the World.

His choices were dishonest silence or speaking up and risking the ire of the Cheney/Rumsfeld “Zionist” consensus, intent on unleashing a juggernaut that would drive America’s military into decades of unresolved conflict that would likely destabilize and collapse government after government.

America was building a factory for terrorism, fueled by debt and economic collapse, fueled by the lives of American soldiers, fueled by American hubris and producing only poverty, extremism and endless war.

Gul spoke out in 2001. To silence him, he has been accused of sneaking into Afghanistan and training the Taliban or having continual meetings with long dead Osama bin laden. Those of us who know Gul personally find this outlandish, even humorous. Who needs to train or even fund the Taliban, soldiers from birth, awash in American cash, overflow from the tens of billions of dollars funneled to insurgents in Afghanistan by Kabul and Washington?

Every fuel truck that heads into Afghanistan, and hundreds do each week, the United States pays the Taliban $3000 to let it through unharmed. Dozens of other American schemes not only arm the Taliban but American allies like Israel see to it they have state of the art encrypted communications, keeping them one step ahead of Americas efforts to control Afghanistan.

There is business to be done in Afghanistan, drugs, weapons and billions in “development projects” that suck in money but never seem to materialize.

No one speaks of the $65 billion in heroin Afghanistan, formerly drug free under the Taliban, is now exporting to the world or the 10% of Afghanis now dying a slow death as addicts.

General Hamid Gul had it right all along. With the vast majorityof Americans either openly opposed to the war in Afghanistan or utterly oblivious to it, a majority tired of paying for the war, tired of hearing war news, tired of hearing about wounded soldiers, homeless veterans, a vast majority more frightened of losing their homes, their jobs, Gul predicted it all years ago.

America isn’t going down by itself. Paksitan is circling the drain with it. Only profiteers, politicians and certain powerful members of the “established” press seem tireless in their prosecution of policies of entropy and destruction.

We just re-launched our Veterans Today Forum.

Previously, it was a module within our VeteransToday.com site. However, once we made the switch from a PHP Nuke platform to a WordPress platform for VeteransToday.com, a strategic decision was made to make the Forum it’s own’s site within the network and use the same PHPbb platform that supports Forum postings.

Seperating the data was no easy task. Yet we hope worth it.

iGPS Joins HireVeterans.com

by Marcy Bulstrom

Intelligent Global Pooling Systems (iGPS Company LLC) is revolutionizing the world’s supply chain by providing manufacturers, suppliers and shippers of unitized loads with the world’s first RFID-tagged all-plastic pallet pool. Manufactured to exacting standards, iGPS’s pallets are edge rackable, lightweight, extremely durable, consistent in size, hygienic, and – thanks to embedded RFID tags – fully traceable.

Headquartered in Orlando, Florida with operations in Dallas, Texas, New York and Bentonville, AR, iGPS is now hiring to fill the needs of the new demand created by its forward thinking innovative products. To meet the hiring challenges, iGPS has partnered with HireVeterans.com, an industry leading job board for U.S. Veterans.

What does iGPS offer?

iGPS is leading a paradigm shift in the pallet-rental business from wood to plastic pallets with radio frequency identification (RFID) tracking capabilities. As the world’s first and only large-scale supplier of an all-plastic RFID-tagged pallet pool, iGPS’s business model provides manufacturers and retailers with compelling advantages:

What are the advantages of iGPS’s pallet vs. wood?

iGPS’s plastic pallets are far superior to the best wood alternatives.

Weight. Weighing in at less than 50 lbs, iGPS pallets are 30% lighter than the typical multi-use wood pallet. This 25-pound weight savings per-pallet makes our pallets easier to handle and saves up to a total of 540 to 15,390 lbs per truckload, which translates into tremendous fuel and transport savings.

Durability. iGPS pallets are the only in the world that weigh less than 50 lbs, meet both GMA and ISO 8611-3 requirements, and easily hold 2,800 lbs (edge rackable). Already in use at Fortune 100 companies nationwide, our pallets have passed every test and challenge they have been subjected to and continue to demonstrate durability everyday in the supply chain.

Contents protection. Our pallets feature 100% top-deck coverage, providing greater rigidity and contents protection than the typical multi-use wood pallet, which has, at most, 87% top deck coverage.

Uniform size, shape and weight. Unlike wood pallets, our pallets are consistent in appearance and performance. With no broken boards or protruding nails, iGPS pallets work superbly in automated environments.

Hygiene. Unlike wood pallets, which readily absorb liquids and can provide a breeding ground for bacteria, iGPS pallets are impervious to liquids and do not present a health risk. They are cleaned with simple detergent and water. In addition, iGPS pallets do not need to undergo heat treatment (which can result in mildew) or fumigation with methyl bromide.

Fire Safety. Our pallets have undergone extensive testing and have received UL 2335 and FM Approvals 4996 certification. This certification means that the fire performance of iGPS pallets is equal or superior to wood, and that they are fully compliant with NFPA 13 fire sprinkler standards.

RFID. Each iGPS pallet is has four identical RFID tags embedded in its frame, enabling shipment tracking in real time.

Environmentally Responsible. iGPS’s business model has been created with sustainability as a cornerstone. Our pallets are 100% recyclable. Should a pallet become damaged, it will be ground and remolded into a new pallet, as permitted by Underwriters Laboratories, making its lifespan indefinite.

PALLET POOLING

iGPS offers businesses the ability to rent the exact number of pallets they need, rather than having to stock for peak seasons and keeping idle pallets in storage. Companies can easily upgrade to iGPS’s system and avoid the expense of purchasing and maintaining a pallet inventory.

Renting Versus Owning
By renting plastic pallets from iGPS’s shared pool, businesses can focus their capital expenditures and day-to-day supply-chain operations on their core business and eliminate the expensive distraction of owning and maintaining an inventory of pallets. Importantly, companies that have been using wood pallets – which are difficult to RFID-tag and trace – can readily upgrade to iGPS’s system and begin tracking shipments in real time.

How Pallet Pooling Works
Under a pooled system, manufacturers, distributors and retailers rent – rather than own – their pallets; the pallets are owned by iGPS. The pooled pallet system works as follows:

    * The manufacturer notifies iGPS of a required shipment.
* iGPS issues ready-for-use plastic pallets to the manufacturing facility in truckload quantities.
* The manufacturer palletizes their product onto the platform and ships it down the distributor network.
* Distributors receive the pallets and either store the products in warehouses or use the pallets to move products to the retailer.
* Once the pallets have been emptied at a retail outlet, the distributor relocates the pallets to their distribution centers.
* Pallets are accumulated at the distribution center and the distributor returns the pallets to iGPS.
* iGPS inspects the pallets and prepares the pallets for reissue.

If you would like to join a forward thinking company that is embracing the future, then check out the jobs offered by iGPS and apply to them now!

Norwell, MA February 5, 2008 – Since 1986, Coler & Colantonio has always been impressed with the skills and abilities learned by Veterans while on active duty. In fact, the first individual invited to join the two founders as a Partner and Principal of Coler & Colantonio in 2001 was Kenneth H. Stanley Partner/Vice President, Energy Infrastructure Market Sector.

Ken Stanley served his four year tour of duty from 1982 to 1986 as an Air Traffic Controller, Combat Control Team Operator and Special Forces Team Member. The life skills of leadership, honor and duty that Ken learned during his military service are considered his greatest assets by Coler & Colantonio, Inc. His insight and talents are an invaluable part of the company’s ideology of “Turning Vision into Reality”.

Coler & Colantonio, Inc. is a privately held corporation whose purpose is to “build a company that our employees take pride in, professionals seek to join, clients pursue and our families are proud of.”

Hiring from the military enables the firm to secure individuals of integrity, one of their corporate core values. Many individuals from the military have gained specific technical skills such as drafting and surveying which gives them a firm foundation for the kind of work Coler & Colantonio does. These characteristics and skills combine well with the Coler & Colantonio, Inc. work environment. By hiring persons with the right skills and characteristics and then supporting them through continuing education and professional development, Coler & Colantonio, Inc. has seen a number of their employees with prior military experience create long and successful careers.

By K. Morgan Barker

Cianbro Corporation has stepped up to the plate to support America’s Heroes by partnering with HireVeterans.com to employ America’s war veterans.

Cianbro is not alone. More and more businesses today are actively choosing war veterans over other candidates and it makes sense: War Veterans are a smart choice in today’s competitive job market because they have the character, skills and training to meet the toughest challenges employers face.

Specifically in the construction market veterans are physically honed and are skilled problem-solvers. They also have the technical skills needed to get the job done and work efficiently within a team and understand and respect the importance of following technical and safety procedures.

Cianbro Corporation is one of the East Coast’s largest civil and heavy industrial construction companies. Cianbro is employee-owned and recognized nationally for its safety and health programs. Headquartered in Pittsfield, Maine, Cianbro serves the eastern seaboard from offices in Baltimore, Maryland; Bloomfield, Connecticut; and Portland, Maine. Cianbro was founded in 1949 by Cianchette brothers Carl, Ken, Bud, and Chuck, and is one of the most diversified construction companies in the nation with gross annual sales in excess of $400 million and over 2,100 team members throughout the eastern United States.

Cianbro president, Pete Vigue says, “Teamwork, commitment, and personal sacrifice are what differentiate our people and this company from our competitors. It is what allows Cianbro to do some pretty extraordinary things in the construction and construction services industries.

Our team puts its can-do spirit to work every day — coming up with innovative and creative solutions for our customers’ needs — on a wide variety of construction, fabrication and coating, and data services projects.”

Build Your Future With Cianbro: The Constructor of Choice

Winner of the 2005 ABC Contractor of the Year Award and the 2005 ABC National Excellence in Construction Award, Cianbro is one of the East Coast’s largest construction and construction services companies. From massive bridges, power plants, and industrial mills, to high-tech facilities for microchips, surgery, and biotechnology, if it’s challenging to build, our team constructs it–safely, on-time and within budget.

The Employer of Choice

Working with the Cianbro team will bring a whole new perspective to your career and future. Cianbro is 100% employee-owned, so as we grow, you’ll grow with us. We work together for success in ways few other companies can match.

Are you ready for our challenge?

To meet our customers’ needs, Cianbro relies on the best professionals in the construction industry. From the Carolinas to Maine, our team’s pride, innovation, and can-do spirit have made us the constructor of choice. If you are safety-focused, team-oriented, customer-driven, and eager to learn, we want you to join our team. We are always looking for outstanding people.

Cianbro is a tobacco-free, equal opportunity employer. Women, minorities and veterans are strongly encouraged to apply.

Cianbro is committed to respecting the privacy of our users. We strive to provide a safe, secure user experience. This site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control, but cannot make absolute guarantees against illegal theft of the applicant data.

ianbro’s competency is remarkable. From Ralph Cianchette’s rigging skill with a gin pole in the 1940s to his son Ken’s beam and pipe handling invention in the 1950s, to the unique and complicated tidal-marine coffer dam work on the Piscataqua River Bridge in the 1970s, to the innovative deck replacement work on the Woodrow Wilson Bridge and the industry’s first-time use of metalized grating on the Hanover Street Bridge in the 1980s, to today’s use of pin pilling and spin fin piles – a sophisticated geotechnical construction technique – Cianbro puts its can-do spirit to work every day – coming up with innovative and creative solutions for our customer’s needs on a wide variety of projects.

Joe Viau, project engineer for Orion Power states, “Cianbro’s riggers, operators, fitters, welders and crafts people were well trained and dedicated. Their ability to safely work as an efficient team in tough conditions was appreciated by Orion from an owner’s viewpoint.”

In the commercial and institutional field speed to market is critical. Cianbro constructs high-quality facilities on-time and with minimal disruption to operations and minimum demand on operating staff. Contractually, Cianbro works with commercial and retail clients as either their construction manager or general contractor. In both cases, their ability to manage multiple trades in confined spaces and to self-perform all tasks enable them to guarantee a finished product completed on time.

Heavy Industrial

Whether completing emergency repairs or a major project, heavy industrial operations require a contractor who gets the job done quickly and at a competitive price while causing minimal disruption to on-going manufacturing and the management team. Moreover, work in most facilities requires a contractor who responds quickly and innovatively to unforeseen problems and roadblocks.

Cianbro will partner with you and your engineer to provide value engineering before your project begins, find solutions to your problems throughout the work, and deliver a project that works for your operational and maintenance teams.

Their ability to manage and self-perform all craft work enables them to honor each and every commitment they make.

Energy Systems

For more than 30 years, Cianbro has constructed a wide variety of public and private industrial and utility energy projects. They thrive on satisfying the most demanding clients with:
